one.network, Ringway and Ringway Jacobs are Highways Award winners!

one.network with Ringway and Ringway Jacobs, working with Hertfordshire and Essex County Councils respectively, won the Highways Award in the 'Best Use of New Technology in the Highways Industry’ category.

Presented for the Best Use of New Technology

Demonstrating that together we are making a significant improvement to the highways industry through the implementation of new technology, we have been acknowledged for delivering live road closure information to sat-nav devices and providing real-time congestion monitoring.

Developed collaboratively with Ringway and Ringway Jacobs, the solution is designed to assist with the planning, monitoring and communication of the disruption caused by roadworks and incidents. It provides real-time congestion monitoring across Hertfordshire and Essex, and offers the unique capability to influence journeys by delivering live road closure information to sat-nav devices, either direct from the roadside or from the Traffic Control Centre.

It offers:

  • Live Link - the ability to influence vehicle routing by avoiding current roadworks and unnecessary diversions through live communication of what is happening from resources on the ground direct to sat-navs.
  • Network Monitor - visualisation and interrogation of live congestion data, mapped against roadworks, enabling the most disruptive works to be easily identified and managed.

It is a proven approach that can drive real change in how live roadworks information can be exchanged and monitored across the industry.

The judges of the imperial-sponsored award said, “This innovative traffic information system, makes a step change in the planning, monitoring and communications of roadworks and incidents by directly linking traffic management operations with Sat-nav devices in real-time allowing minimal disruption.”

The winners were announced at the Highways Awards ceremony on Wednesday 9th October.
